The Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles meet up on NFL Sunday in one of the best games of the day. The game is scheduled for a 4:25 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Seahawks and Eagles both listed as the favorite depending on the book.
Seattle and Philly both played on Thanksgiving last week, so playing in the late game here on Sunday puts them in the national spotlight once again. The Seahawks are just a game back of the division-leading Arizona Cardinals this week, who have a tough game against the Kansas City Chiefs. A win here with an Arizona loss would put Seattle back in the proverbial driver's seat moving forward in the NFC West, which could mean Seattle finishes with a high seed.
Philadelphia has certainly been fun to watch since the arrival of Chip Kelly. His offense has made the Eagles one of the more dynamic teams in football as they have no problems moving the ball and scoring points. They're hosting a Seattle team that is looking to slow down Philadelphia with the physical defense and make them slow the game down. The Eagles certainly want to run a ton of plays offensively but there's no guarantee they'll be able to move the football effectively against Seattle.
The Seahawks give up just 18.4 points per game this season and held Arizona and San Francisco to just three points in back-to-back games. Statistically they rank inside the Top 10 in the league in both opposing passing yards (199 — third) and opposing rushing yards (86 — fifth). Philadelphia brings an interesting contrast, though, as Mark Sanchez and the Birds are fifth best in passing yards per game and sixth best in rushing. Many of those numbers were logged with Nick Foles as the QB, but Sanchez has already shown that he can win in Kelly's offense.
At home this season the Eagles are an impressive 6-0. Seattle has struggled on the road, going just 3-3. The Seahawks are the best team in the league at running the football and they should be able to attack this Philly defense with Marshawn Lynch. QB Russell Wilson isn't afraid to tuck the ball and run, gaining valuable yardage with his feet when needed, which gives the Seahawks another big threat on the ground.
In this one, the Seahawks have the better defense. Both offenses should score, but look for Seattle to make some stops in the second half.
