The New York Giants and Tennessee Titans take to the field on NFL Sunday. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the odds for the game have the Giants as a small favorite on the road.
Eli Manning needs to play better. The Giants quarterback has 22 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on the season — but in games they win, Manning has been very good. It's hard to see those two things not being related as Manning has completed better than 70 percent of his passes with an 8-1 ratio in games the Giants win this season. When they lose, well, he just isn't very good.
New York is just 3-9 this season while the Titans are 2-10. New York led by three touchdowns last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars but found a way to lose that game, which was also on the road. New York's only win on the road this season came over the Washington Redskins. That was several weeks ago and since then the Giants are just 1-7, having lost seven games in a row.
Tennessee is not good on either side of the football and they've dropped six games in a row as well. The only win outside of Week 1 came against Jacksonville back in October 16-14. Since that game opponents have outscored Tennessee 30-18. Those teams haven't been the best in the league, either, losing to Washington, Houston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philly and Houston last week. Both the Eagles and Texans put 40-plus points on Tennessee, so this line is pretty confusing for the Giants.
And even though the Giants have been down this season, they should still be a better football team than Tennessee. Odell Beckham Jr. has become a star for the G-Men and easily has become Manning's favorite target. He could continue to get the football thrown his way as opponents have not been able to stop him this season.
Tennessee has covered the number just once in their last 11 games overall and with the Giants being a very small favorite, it could point to a Giants overall win. Zach Mettenberger is expected to start in this game according to reports, but he's a rookie that is still going through the pains of being an NFL quarterback.
Neither team defends the run well, but overall the Giants are probably the better running offense overall. They're favored by a small amount here, but look for the Giants to find a way to get this win on the road.
