While Miami owns the better record at 5-8, its playoff hopes are non-existent as well. The last six weeks have dealt a death blow to whatever postseason aspirations the team might have harbored thanks to losses to the Colts, Titans, Bills, Patriots, and 49ers.
The Dolphins were competitive in almost every one of those games save an inexplicable 37-3 home loss to Tennessee, but competitive is usually a term reserved for hard working losers.
Miami has enjoyed a better than usual home field advantage this season, earning wins over Oakland, St. Louis, and Seattle at Sun Life Stadium; however, it is difficult to get behind a 5-8 team laying 7.5 points regardless of who it is facing.
