What appears to be the NFL’s best team (San Francisco), at least through two weeks, will look to improve to 3-0 today when it squares off against the 1-1 Vikings (1:00pm ET start time, FOX). The game total in this afternoon’s NFC dust up between the Niners and Vikings is set at 43 points.

San Francisco, despite reaching the NFC Championship Game last season, stunned most everyone with its week one upset of the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field. The Niners dominated the defending NFC North champs to earn a 30-22 victory.

Jim Harbaugh’s crew wasted no time backing up their win over the Packers as they crushed the Lions 27-19 at Candlestick Park last Sunday night. The score did not do the performance justice as Detroit’s high flying offense managed all of 296 yards and 15 first downs for the game.

If any spot ever screamed letdown, it is the one San Francisco finds itself in this afternoon. A huge road game against a Super Bowl favorite to open the season followed by a Sunday night home opener against a fellow playoff squad from last season followed by a road meeting with a 1-1 team that won three games last year. Suffice it to say if Harbaugh has his team in top form today it can count on at least 10 wins and a spot in the post-season.

Conversely, if Minnesota pulls off a surprise today, Leslie Frazier may get the moribund Vikings turned around sooner rather than later.
