The Seattle Seahawks continue their preseason tour of the AFC West tonight with a stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The Seahawks will square off against their former division rival this evening in what some would label a dress rehearsal for the regular season. Tonight’s game, which has a scheduled start time of 8:00pm ET, opened as a pick’em, but the latest NFL Preseason Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs Odds have Pete Carroll’s crew listed as a -3 against the spread favorite. The game total in this evening’s contest is set at 40 points.

Russell Wilson had an outstanding collegiate career, posting incredible numbers at both North Carolina State and Wisconsin, but teams passed over him repeatedly in April’s draft due to his diminutive frame. Wilson is far from proving his detractors wrong, but through two preseason outings he has opened their minds to the possibility that they were mistaken in doubting him.

Seattle is 2-0 in exhibition play and Wilson has as much to do with that as player on the team’s roster, completing 22-of-33 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for 90 yards and one score on eight carries.

It would appear Carroll is still behind free agent acquisition Matt Flynn being the Seahawks opening day starter; however, Wilson has been impressive enough that Carroll is giving him the start tonight to see how he fares against a first team NFL defense.

The betting public must like Wilson’s chances this evening, either that or they are well aware of the Chiefs general preseason malaise. Perhaps it is a combination of both; regardless, they poured enough money on Seattle to cause the line to shift from a pick to +/-3.

Kansas City may present more of a challenge than most are expecting, though. The Chiefs looked fantastic in their preseason opener against the Cardinals, whipping Arizona 27-17, but they reverted to their customary exhibition form last week in getting throttled 31-17 at St. Louis.

Suffice it to say Romeo Crennel’s defense will give Wilson his biggest test yet, but KC’s offense, which was impressive against both the Cardinals and Rams, figures to be challenged by the Seahawks formidable defense as well.
