The New Orleans Saints will hit the gridiron for the second of five preseason outings tonight when they take on the defending AFC Champion Patriots at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Start time in this evening’s battle between the two high scoring squads is set for 7:30pm ET. NFL Preseason New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots Odds at Sportsbook.ag have the hosting Pats listed as a -3.5 against the spread favorite. Tonight’s game total is set at 38 points.

The New Orleans Saints had a successful preseason debut, topping the Arizona Cardinals 17-10 in Sunday night’s Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio. Drew Brees, who missed most of the Saints off-season programs while attempting to hammer out a lucrative multi-year contract, did not miss a beat, completing 4-of-5 passes for 41 yards in the team’s 10 play, 77 yard opening touchdown drive.

New Orleans was a bit sloppy the rest of the way, rushing for just 46 yards on 28 carries while turning the ball over two times, including a red zone interception from backup Chase Daniel (15-for-20, 203 yards, one touchdown, one interception).

In order to avoid a quick turnaround flight back north, New Orleans headed to Massachusetts following Sunday’s game. The Saints have been carrying out joint practices with the Patriots this week as the two teams prepared for tonight’s game.

Apparently Tom Brady targeted tight end Aaron Hernandez heavily during 11 on 11 drills, finding the third year pro six times. That should continue tonight, particularly if the Patriots first teamers make their way to the red zone where Brady completed all nine of his pass attempts in seven on seven work against the Saints defense yesterday.

New England Head Coach Bill Belichick has not stated how much action Brady will see tonight, but he figures to get just one or two series, especially with the team thin at offensive line right now. Regardless of how long he plays, Brady should have little trouble craving up New Orleans’ banged up secondary.

Saints interim coach Joe Vitt may elect to give Brees more time this evening, but he too has not indicated how long his veteran quarterback will play.

Game Notes: The Over is 5-2-1 in the Patriots last eight preseason games. The Over is 6-2-1 in the Saints last nine preseason outings.

NFL Preseason New Orleans Saints at New England Patriots Odds:

New Orleans Saints +3.5 (-110), Over 38 (-110), +160 (Moneyline)

New England Patriots -3.5 (-110), Under 38 (-110), -180 (Moneyline)
