NFL Preseason Chicago Bears at New York Giants Start Time, Odds and Free Pick

The Second City will attempt to take a bite out of the Big Apple tonight as the Bears clash with the Giants in a week three preseason battle at MetLife Stadium. This evening’s game, which has a scheduled start time of 8:00pm ET, will be broadcast live on CBS. NFL Preseason Chicago Bears at New York Giants Odds have the hosting Giants listed as a -3 against the spread favorite while the Over/Under is set at 41 points. Chicago is drawing +145 odds to win tonight’s skirmish outright.

Chicago, which the betting public is backing at 89 percent on the moneyline in tonight's game, slept walked through its preseason opener against Denver, totaling eight first downs and 132 total yards while converting exactly zero of its 11 third down opportunities. Fortunately for the Bears, their starters barely touched the field in the embarrassing performance (even by preseason standards).

Chicago, with Jay Cutler actually strapping on a helmet, was far more impressive, at least offensively, in last week’s meeting with the Redskins. The Bears led Washington 20-10 at the break and they went on to win the game 33-31. Cutler was among the stand out performers in the victory as he completed 7-of-13 passes for 122 yards.

Several newcomers also shined in the exhibition battle, including rookie wideout Alshon Jeffery and off-season acquisitions Jason Campbell, Brandon Marshall, and Michael Bush. Jeffrey and Marshall combined for five catches for 123 yards while Bush produced 21 yards and two touchdowns on five carries. Campbell completed 9-of-15 passes for 141 yards.

The Giants rebounded from a 32-31 loss at Jacksonville in their preseason opener by thrashing the city rival Jets 26-3 at MetLife Stadium last Saturday. New York’s offense, despite the lopsided result, struggled against Gang Green, wrapping up the game with 12 first downs and 230 total yards. Eli Manning played a major role in the Giants offensive struggles, connecting on 7-of-14 passes for 62 yards and one pick.

Defensively the Giants were spectacular, though. Aided by the Jets offensive ineptitude, New York yielded just 10 first downs and 148 yards to Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, and the rest of the Jets offensive crew.

The Giants starters, Manning in particular, will probably look to iron out the wrinkles tonight in what will, most likely, serve as their last extensive preseason action. New York’s first team units will be short-handed, though, as Jason Pierre-Paul (DE), Michael Boley (LB), Hakeem Nicks (WR), and Will Beatty (LT) sit out this evening’s game.

Free Pick: As everyone is aware, there are no guarantees in football betting, especially in the preseason, but there is some evidence that Tom Coughlin does not put a great deal of emphasis on week three exhibition games. Coughlin owns a 40-34 preseason record, but his teams (going back to 2000 with Jacksonville) are just 2-9 in their last 11 week three exhibition contests. Take the Bears +3 in tonight’s game.

NFL Preseason Chicago Bears at New York Giants Odds:

Chicago Bears +3 (-105), Over 41 (-110), +145 (Moneyline)

New York Giants -3 (-115), Under 41 (-110), -165 (Moneyline)
