The NFL Playoffs officially get underway this weekend with four Wild Card round games. The upcoming showdown between the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks is generating the most buzz, though. The latest NFL Odds have the Seahawks listed as the only road favorite in this weekend’s games as they are laying three points in Sunday’s NFC Wild Card clash with the Redskins at FedEX Field in Landover, Maryland (4:30pm ET, FOX).
Seattle and Washington were prominent on the preseason radar, but most of the attention the two teams received had little to do with any perceived success they were expected to enjoy this year. No, the Seahawks and Redskins were largely in the news because of the quarterbacks they drafted, Russell Wilson and Robert Griffin III, respectively.
Turns out those two were worthy of the attention. Wilson, who beat out free agent acquisition Matt Flynn to win the starting job, guided Seattle, which opened the season at +4000 ($100 wins $4000) Super Bowl Odds, to an 11-5 record and second place finish in the NFC West.
Griffin helped reverse the Redskins recent fortunes in a big way, using his arm and legs to lead the team to an NFC East winning 10-6 record. Washington, which tallied just five wins a season ago, was listed at +7500 odds ($100 wins $7500) to win the Lombardi when the season kicked off in September.
Seattle Seahawks vs Washington Redskins NFL Odds:
Seattle Seahawks -3 (-110), Over 46 (-110), -145 (Moneyline)
Washington Redskins +3 (-110), Under 46 (-110), +125 (Moneyline)
