NFL Odds San Diego Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs

The San Diego Chargers are on the road in the opening week of the NFL season, taking on the Kansas City Chiefs. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on CBS. Currently the NFL Odds for the game have the Chiefs listed as a touchdown-favorite to earn the victory at home.

NFL Odds
Kansas City -7
Total: 44.5 points

Kansas City is expecting to be without Jamaal Charles, who is still recovering from a torn up knee last season. Head coach Andy Reid said it “would be a stretch” for him to find the field in Week 1, but it’s safe to assume Kansas City was preparing for this anyway. It’s tough to know whether or not San Diego was doing the same thing.

The Chargers are playing in that tough game for a West Coast team, the early kickoff to open the season has to be a pain. San Diego is a big dog here, especially coming off a season where they dropped all six division games.

Quarterback Philip Rivers has to learn to lead his team to a close win once in a while. Last year the Chargers were just 3-9 in games decided by eight points or less, plus injuries made it even worse. Rivers has been able to avoid injury, having played in every game since 2006.

If he is going to take the Chargers to the next level, it’s going to have to start in a game like this. The Chief defense is strong, but a full touchdown looks to be a bit much in this one.
