Denver is going to start rookie Paxton Lynch in this game. They just officially decided against letting Trevor Siemian start on Saturday and will give the rookie his shot. His first start could have come against a tougher opponent, but Atlanta isn’t exactly strong on the defensive side of the football.
A win here for the Broncos would give them an eighth 5-0 start in franchise history. Denver has been winning with defense and there’s little doubt that will fuel them again in this one. The Broncos have given up an average of 16 points per game this season but they have played some strong offenses in Carolina, Indianapolis and Cincinnati and held them all to 20 points or less. In fact, Denver has held each of its last nine opponents under 21 points.
Atlanta is 3-1 and they have won a pair of games on the road this season, beating both Oakland and New Orleans. All of their games have been high-scoring as the Falcons are posting 38 points per game on average, easily the most points in the league by better than a touchdown per game. Matt Ryan has played pretty good football to date and a win here for Atlanta would be huge.
Denver, though, is going to be tough to beat in Colorado. Lynch is making his first start and it’s tough to expect what he will bring to the field, but the defense is good enough, especially at home, to get the Broncos a win here.
