The Carolina Panthers are hosting the Arizona Cardinals in NFL Football action on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. The NFL Odds for the game have the Panthers favored to pick up the win at home.
Total: 47 points
Arizona probably feels a bit odd after playing to a 6-6 overtime tie with Seattle last weekend. Both teams missed field goals in the extra session that would have won the game, but neither was able to convert and pick up the win. Now the Cardinals have to travel all the way across the country to play in the dreaded 1 p.m. east coast time slot.
Carolina is coming off a bye week, the Panthers need to find a way to be more improved on defense as they have given up an average of 371.5 yards per game, which ranks 24th in the league. It’s one of the main reasons the Panthers are 1-5 on the campaign. Oddly enough, Cam Newton and his team can still find a way to navigate themselves into the playoffs. Aside from this game, most of the game left are winnable and Carolina has the talent to be able to battle back.
The defense, though, needs to get things figured out. Arizona QB Carson Palmer is listed as questionable going into this one, he’s a bit banged up but he should get the start. Palmer threw for 342 against Seattle last week and could get close to that number again this week as the Panthers have struggled to stop anybody.
David Johnson might be the best running back in the league at this point, though, so Arizona might stick to running the football consistently. Carolina should be ready to go following the bye week and they have the advantage of playing at home in the early time slot.
