The Detroit Lions hit the road today to take on the rival Chicago Bears in NFL action. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on FOX. Currently the NFL Betting Odds for the game have the Lions favored by nearly double digits in this one.

Detroit's defense ranks second best in the league overall, right behind Seattle. The Lions come into today's game against the hated Bears having already clinched a playoff spot with the Eagles' loss last night at Washington. And although Detroit is just 3-3 on the road this season and they've clinched a playoff spot, the oddsmakers still have them laying almost double digits in this one.

That's because the Bears are a mess and they're starting youngster Jimmy Clausen in this game. Jay Cutler and Marc Trestman haven't been on the same page and the Bears head coach has decided to bench the highest paid player in the league. Trestman seems to be drawing a line in the proverbial sand with Cutler, but making the change to Clausen in this game today is still brash.

A win over the Bears and Packers would give Detroit its first division crown since the 1993 season. The defense has helped carry them this season, allowing just 17 points per game while the offense has sputtered at times. Matthew Stafford has not been sharp at all this season and the once dominant Lions offense has had its problems this season. But they're still 10-4 and the second seed in the NFC is a real possibility.

Getting the football to Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate will help the Lions' chances. Chicago ranks next to last in the league against the pass defensively, so expect the Lions to take advantage.
