NFC East Division Odds, Schedule

The NFC East Division hasn't had a repeat title winner since the 2003 and 2004 seasons and according to Vegas Odds this year it won't have a repeat winner as well. The NY Giants enter as the favorite to win the 2013 NFC East title. Below are the Odds for each team in the division, along with their schedules for the upcoming year.

New York Giants (+200): The reigning Super Bowl champs were in prime position to defend their title at the season's halfway point last year. The New York Giants opened 6-2, chalking up wins over both the Cowboys and Redskins along the way. But as the schedule toughened late, the Giants wilted and they missed the Playoffs with a 9-7 record. If the Giants are to win another Super Bowl under Tom Coughlin, they must avoid the late season slump.  They got away with it in 2007 and 2011 but it is getting to be a pattern that should be of concern for Giants fans.

Dec. 22 at Detroit Lions 4:05 p.m.

Dec. 29 Washington Redskins 1:00 p.m.

Washington Redskins (+250): Sitting at 3-6 last year, Mike Shanahan put his Washington Redskins notice and they responded by going on a seven-game winning streak to capture their first division crown since 1999. The season ended in the worst possible way, with RG3 getting injured in a 24-14 playoff loss to the Seahawks. From the moment training camp opens, every step Robert Griffin III takes will be scrutinized with eagle eyes. This team is now expected to win after years of futility, but no one knows if the franchise quarterback will ever be the same player again. A new era has begun for the Redskins, and anything less than making the playoffs will be viewed as an unacceptable failure.

Dec. 22 Dallas Cowboys, 1:00 p.m.

Dec. 29 at New York Giants, 1:00 p.m.

Dallas Cowboys (+250): Another average season went by in Dallas, and another loss in the final game of the season prevented a playoff birth. The Dallas Cowboys finished 2012 at 8-8. So what did the Cowboys do to get over the hump in the offseason? Well they fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, switched to a 4-3 defense , turned play calling duties over to offensive coordinator Bill Callahan, and committed long term to Tony Romo. Despite the Odds I still see this as a .500 team at best.

Dec. 22 at Washington Redskins, 1:00 p.m.

Dec. 29 vs. Philadelphia Eagles, 1:00 p.m.

Philadelphia Eagles (+400): After all those seasons of playing competitive and often playoff-caliber football, the Philadelphia Eagles were an epic disaster in 2012, losing 11 of their last 12 games after an illusionary 3-1 start. In Steps Chip Kelly. Honeymoons are always exciting, if brief. But the bar of expectation has finally been lowered in Philadelphia, and that's going to help Kelly's cause as his first offseason unfolds, because improvement on last year's 4-12 debacle shouldn't be difficult.
