NCAA Odds Iowa State Cyclones vs Tulsa Golden Hurricane

College football on Thursday night and we will see the Iowa State Cyclones travel to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. The start time is 7:30 pm (Eastern) and the game will be televised on Fox Sports 1. Current Odds have Tulsa listed as 2.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 55.

Analysis: The Iowa State Cyclones have yet to win a game this year and are off a bye week. Prior to the bye they took on instate rival Iowa and lost the game 27-21 in a hard fought battle. In that loss sophomore WR Quenton Bundrage had a career day with 7 catches for 146 yards and 3 Tds. QB Sam Richardson comes in with some solid numbers, hitting 62% of his passes for 502, with 5 TDP and just 2 INTs. He is dealing with a groin injury, so we may see some of Grant Rohach in this one. Overall on offense they have struggled, scoring just 20.5 ppg, which is 97th in the country. The defense for the Cyclones is an issue, especially vs the run, where they are 110th in the nation, allowing 223 ypg on the ground.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane check in at 1-2 on the year and are off a bye week. Prior to the bye Tulsa was routed by Oklahoma 51-20 on the same day, allowing scores on nine of the Sooners’ 11 possessions while also surrendering 607 yards of total offense. Overall now the Tulsa is 89th in total defense, 7th vs the pass and 113th in points allowed, allowing 37.3 ppg. Offensive Cody Green has struggled, hitting just 51.9% of his pass with 3 Tds and 2 INTs. The running game is led by Trey Watts, but still he has just 220 yards on the year. The Golden Hurricane have struggled on offense overall, ranking 107th in total offense and 104th in scoring offense, putting up just 19 ppg. Tulsa enters having won eight in a row at home, but each of the last four victories – and five of the last six – have come by six points or fewer.

Pick: I like the Under in this one. Both teams have struggled on the defensive side of the ball, but the offenses have struggled even more. Iowa State's main problem on their defense is vs the run and Tulsa would love nothing more than to get their running game going to take some pressure off of Cody Green. Lots of running should eat some clock. For Iowa State they do not have an explosive offense. They come in scoring just 19.5 ppg and they also average just 4.8 yards per play, including just 5.8 yards per pass attempt. This team takes some time to score their points, even with the hurry up offense. The Under is 26-8 after the Cyclones allow 200 yards rushing or more, while the Under is 7-2 in Tulsa's last 9 home games. All points to the Under in this one.
