NCAA College Football Odds Ohio State vs California

Sonny Dykes’ California Golden Bears will get their second Big Ten test of the young season when they meet the fourth ranked Ohio State Buckeyes tomorrow night in Berkeley. Saturday’s clash between the Bears and Buckeyes is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET at Memorial Stadium; it will be broadcast live on FOX. Ohio State is presently listed as a -14.5 against the spread road favorite in the latest NCAA College Football Odds while the Over/Under is set at 65.5 points. Cal is drawing a +425 money line ($100 wins $425) to register its second win of the season.

Ohio State may be without quarterback Braxton Miller in this contest (he is currently listed as questionable with a leg injury), but it may not matter. Backup Kenny Guiton did a superb job filling in under center when Miller exited in the first quarter of last week’s game against San Diego State.

The senior field general completed 19-of-28 passes for 152 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while also rushing for 83 yards and one score on nine carries. His performance, along with the Buckeyes defense (held the Aztecs to 280 yards and forced four turnovers), carried Ohio State to a 42-7 victory, its second double digit win of the season.

Cal is, no doubt, preparing for both quarterbacks while also crafting a plan to deal with Ohio State’s formidable defense. The Golden Bears, who improved to 1-1 with last week’s 37-30 win over Portland State, had some offensive success against Northwestern in their opener, amassing 30 first downs and 549 total yards, but turnovers led to a 44-30 loss.

Freshman quarterback Jared Goff had some nice moments against the Wildcats, but they picked him off three times and two of those interceptions were returned for touchdowns.

The Golden Bears will, per usual, keep a lightning quick pace to the offense as they attempt to fatigue the Buckeyes defense, but they are out manned on both fronts in this contest.

The Buckeyes offense should have its way with Cal’s defense and, eventually, Ohio State’s defense will force the young Goff into some serious mistakes.

This line is artificially low due to Cal’s ability to stay close in the Northwestern game, but the Wildcats overcame injuries to two key players and still got the win and cover. Granted, the hook on a 14 point line is never appealing, but there is still value on the Buckeyes.

NCAA College Football Odds Ohio State vs California:

Ohio State Buckeyes -14.5 (-110), Over 65.5 (-110), -550 (Moneyline)

California Golden Bears +14.5 (-110), Under 65.5 (-110), +425 (Moneyline)
