Washington State will attempt to match last year's win total when it takes the field against Idaho on Saturday in Pullman. The Cougars are expected to do so with ease as the latest NCAA College Football Odds from 5Dimes have them favored at -30.5 against the spread and -12500 on the money line ($12500 wins $100). The Over/Under in this weekend's game, which is scheduled to kickoff at 10:30pm ET at Martin Stadium, is set at 58.5 points.
Washington State opened its season with back to back road games and it nearly pulled off back to back upsets as Auburn needed a late rally to clip the Cougars 31-24 and USC needed the same but was unable to produce it in falling 10-7 to Mike Leach's squad.
The Cougars returned home last weekend and pounded Southern Utah 48-10 to the delight of the crowd at Martin Stadium.
Washington State faithful are hoping for a similar beat down on Saturday with the Idaho Vandals in town. The possibility seems like a plausible one considering how poorly Idaho has played this season.
The Vandals were crushed 40-6 by North Texas in their opener and they suffered another embarrassing road loss the following weekend, falling 42-10 at Wyoming.
Idaho, as a result of those two outings, drew a +28 line in its home opener last weekend against Northern Illinois, but it actually displayed a little moxie against the heavily favored Huskies.
The Vandals offense posted 28 first downs and 442 total yards, and it held the ball for 33:47. Unfortunately for Idaho, three fumbles and a sieve like defense (UNI, despite two turnovers and 11 penalties, posted 508 total yards) led to a third consecutive loss as the Huskies overcame an early deficit to win 45-35.
With Washington State's defense playing at a high level (11th in the nation in yards per game allowed) and its offense capable of opening up against an inferior opponent, Saturday does not set up well for the Vandals. Leach has never been afraid to run up the score and he will get an opportunity to do so this weekend.
