NCAA Basketball Picks Miami Hurricanes vs Florida State Seminoles

It's Big Monday we will see the Miami Hurricanes travel to Tallahassee to take on the Florida State Seminoles. The game has a start time of 7:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Vegas odds have the Seminoles listed as 5.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 117.

Analysis: Miami is the defending ACC Champion, but they come in having dropped five ACC games in a row, to fall to 2-8 within the conference. The Canes 2 wins in ACC play have come on the road, while they have gone 0-6 at home. The Canes are not an offensive machine by any stretch, as they come in ranked 343rd in the nation in scoring, averaging just 61 ppg on 41.3% shooting, which is 310th in the nation. Rion Brown is the only Cane that averages in double figures at 14.6 ppg, while Garrius Adams checks in at 9.8 ppg (2nd on the team). This is a poor offense, but the defense has been stellar as they come in ranked 10th in scoring defense (59.3 ppg) and 25th in FG% defense (39.6%).

The Seminoles have dropped four of their last five contests with the only win a 70-50 victory over Virginia Tech last Wednesday. The Noles now stand at 5-6 within the ACC and 14-9 overall. The Noles are not having the same offensive problems that the Canes are as they come in having scored 71.1 ppg on 46.6% shooting. Aaron Thomas leads the team in scoring (13.2), while forward Okaro White is tied for second at 12.7, with Ian Miller, who is out with an ankle injury. White also leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 rpg. Defense has not been a problem for the Noles either as they come in having allowed just 64.3 ppg (42th) on just 38.3% shooting (11th).  Florida State leads the ACC in blocked shots (5.9).

Pick: Yes this is a low OU Line, but still I have to look at the under here. This Miami offense has been horrendous this year, averaging just 61 ppg overall and 59.4 ppg in their last 5 games and in those last 5 games they had an OT game, which they scored just 46 points in regulation. The Canes have also scored just 58.6 ppg on the road and FSU has allowed just 60.2 ppg on 37.6% shooting at home. On defense the Canes have had no problems at all as they have allowed just 59.3 ppg on the year, including just 54.1 ppg on the road. FSU has scored 76 ppg at home, but in their last 5 overall they have averaged just 63.2 ppg, while in their last 2 at home they have averaged just 59.5 ppg. They played another slow down team on this floor vs Clemson and just 102 points were scored in that game. this one may put up a similar number.
