NCAA Basketball Picks Dayton Flyers vs St Louis Billikens

NCAA basketball on Wednesday night and we will see the Dayton Flyers travel to St Louis, Missouri to take on the St Louis Billikens. The game has a start time of 9:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on CBSSN. Vegas odds have the Billikens listed as 7.5 point favorites, while the total sits at 132.

Analysis: The Dayton Flyers come in at 20-9 overall and 8-6 with in the Atlantic 10. The Flyers are on a bit of a roll as they have won 7 of their last 8 games, including getting a 7 point home win over UMass in their last game. Now they have a trip to St Louis, but their is hope fore them as the dog in the series is 19-4 ATS. The Flyers average a solid 73.7 ppg on 46.3% shooing. Jordan Siebert leads the team in scoring at 12.6 ppg, while close behind him is Devin Oliver, who averages 12 ppg and leads the team in rebounding (7.2 rpg). Dyshawn Pierre is the only other player averaging in double figures, at 11.4 ppg. Defensively, this is not a bad team as they allow just 698 ppg on 44.4% shooting. Dayton's last road win over a nationally-ranked team was at Louisville in December 2007.

The Billikens come in at 25-4 overall and 12-2 in the Atlantic 10, but they are not playing all that weel of late as they have dropped their last 2 games to Duquesne and VCU. The Billikens have won 4 of the last 5 SU in this series, including a 67-59 win at Dayton earlier in the year. St Louis averages a modest 70.4 ppg on 44.3% shooting. They are led by Jordair Jett, who averages 13.9 ppg, while right behind him is Dwayne Evens, who scores 13.8 ppg and also leads the team in rebounding at 6.4 rpg. Rob Loe (10.5 ppg) is the only other player to score in double figures for the Billikens. The Billikens are a very solid defensive team, allowing just 60.5 ppg (15th in nation) on 39.2% shooting overall (17th) and 27.3% shooting from long range, which is 1st in the nation.

Pick:  I like the Under in this game. The first game played between these team this year was at Dayton, where games are higher scoring than at St Louis and just 126 points were scored in that game. This is a huge game for both teams and I expect them to both bring their defensive "A" games. St Louis already has one, but Dayton has been playing better defense of late, allowing just 66.8 ppg in their last 5 games. St Louis allows just 60.3 ppg on their home floor and they allowed just 59 points when the teams played at Dayton earlier in the year. The Billikens are not a stron offensive team and are quite happy slowing the game down and scoring the mid 60's and I feel that will happen here. 66-59 sounds about right, which is very close to the final of the first meeting.
