The Miami Heat will shoot for a third straight win tonight as they square off against the Toronto Raptors at the AmericanAirlines Arena in South Florida (7:30pm ET start time). The latest NBA Odds are favoring the Heat at -10.5 against the spread; the game total is set at 195.5 points. Toronto is drawing +550 moneyline odds to register its fifth road win of the season.
The Miami Heat started their recent six game road swing in lousy fashion, dropping back to back games against Indiana and Portland, but it closed it out on a 3-1 run to improve to 26-12 overall.
Miami capped off its trip with a 99-90 win over the Lakers last Thursday, giving the team almost a full week of rest. LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were the only Heat players to score in double figures against Los Angeles, but they combined for 66 points on 28-of-45 shooting.
The Raptors also enter tonight’s game off a win over the reeling Lakers. Toronto halted a four game skid on Sunday with a 108-103 home victory against Los Angeles, improving its record to a still miserable 15-26.
Unfortunately for the Raptors, back to back wins does not seems likely. Toronto has dropped eight in a row to Miami and it hardly qualified as a competitive opponent in most of those losses, losing by an average of 12.1 points per game.
The Raptors have also been abysmal away from home, going 4-17 on the road. Worse still, Toronto is 1-8 against winning teams outside the Air Canada Centre, losing by an average 13.8 points per contest.
