The Oklahoma City Thunder will take aim at a fifth straight win tonight when they welcome the Denver Nuggets to the Chesapeake Energy Arena. Start time in this evening’s meeting between the Western Conference rivals is set for 8:00pm ET (TV: Fox Sports Oklahoma, Altitude Sports). NBA Odds are favoring the Thunder at -8.5 against the spread; the game total is set at 209 points. The Nuggets are drawing +350 odds to win tonight’s game outright.
Oklahoma City’s destruction of its Western Conference brethren continued on Monday night with a 102-90 win over the Suns. The double digit victory, which capped off a three game road swing for the Thunder, featured brilliant offensive performances for the dynamic duo of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook.
Durant scored a game high 41 points on 15-of-30 shooting while Westbrook added 36 points after connecting on 14 of his 24 shot attempts. The rest of the Thunder starting lineup contributed just six points in the win.
Oklahoma City, which improved to an NBA best 30-8 with its win over the Suns, will look for a similar effort from its big two this evening. And it may need it to down the red hot Nuggets.
Denver, which trails the Thunder by seven games in the Northwest standings, has won six straight games and it finished off a four game home stand last night with a 115-111 overtime win over Portland.
Despite their recent success, the Nuggets find themselves catching near double digit points tonight. The line has a great deal to do with Denver’s occasional difficulty winning road games. The Nuggets are 9-14 away from home this season and they are 4-8 on the road against winning teams.
