The Denver Nuggets will square off against the Houston Rockets tonight in a Western Conference battle at the Toyota Center. This evening’s game has a scheduled start time of 8:00pm ET; it will be broadcast live on NBA TV. NBA Wednesday odds have the hosting Rockets listed as a -2 against the spread favorite and the Over/Under set at 217 points. The visiting Nuggets, who are 9-15 away from home this season, are getting +110 odds ($100 wins $110) as a moneyline selection.
The Rockets return home tonight after a brutal eight game stretch that saw them go 1-7. The seven losses were consecutive and six of them came on the road where Houston is now 8-14. Fortunately for the Rockets, they won their last game, a Monday night clash with the lowly Bobcats in Charlotte.
Houston dispatched the Bobcats 100-94 but shot just 39.2 percent from the field in doing so. The Rockets winning formula was a rather simple one as they made 41 trips to the free throw line. James Harden led the charge in that regard as he overcame an otherwise miserable shooting night (5-for-20 from the field) by connecting on 19 of his 21 charity stripe attempts.
Houston, which brought its record to 22-21 with Monday’s win, will probably need a better overall shooting effort tonight to defeat the Nuggets. While Denver is, without question, a more viable threat at home, it enters tonight game on an 8-3 run.
The Nuggets, who knocked off the mighty Thunder 121-118 in overtime on Sunday, are also 5-1 both straight up and against the spread in their last six games as a road dog at Houston.
