Hi-res-158087834_crop_exact

Pro Hoops on Tuesday night and we will see the New York Knicks take the short trip to Brooklyn to take on the Brooklyn Nets.  The game is scheduled for a 7:00 pm (Eastern) start time and will be televised live on ESPN. Currently the odds for the game have New York favored by 3.5 points while the total sits at 194.  Check out Sportsbook Spy to see who the Public is taking on all of today's games.

Free Analysis:  With their leading scorer back on the court, the New York Knicks can breathe a bit easier and will shoot for a measure of revenge against the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night from Barclays Center. Carmelo Anthony, the third leading scorer in the NBA with 26.8 ppg, missed two games in a row after needing stitches to close a cut on the middle finger of his left hand. He returned in Sunday's 112-106 victory over the Denver Nuggets and posted 34 points on 10-of-24 shooting. Anthony reached the 30-point mark for the sixth time this season and has led New York in scoring 17 times. He's also leading the league in first quarter scoring with 9.8 points. New York is averaging 26.6 points in the opening 12 minutes this season and is fifth with 102.8 ppg. Knicks C Tyson Chandler, who leads the league in field goal percentage (70.9), has five double-doubles in his last six games and torched the Nets for 28 points (on 12-of-13 shooting) and 10 rebounds in their last matchup. The Knicks have been a stingy bunch under coach Mike Woodson, whose squad is allowing 95.2 ppg and leads the NBA with the least amount of turnovers per game, turning the ball over just 10.9 times. New York's 15-5 start is the best since the 1995-96 campaign and this is the first time the Knicks have been 10 games over .500 since April 2001. After visiting the Nets, the Knicks will return to Madison Square Garden for six straight games versus the Lakers, Cavaliers, Rockets, Nets, Bulls and Timberwolves.

Brooklyn has hit the skids recently, losing four in a row since a five-game winning streak. The skid includes three straight home losses for the Nets, who had won seven of their first eight at the Barclays Center. In there last game (loss to Milwaukee) Gerald Wallace posted a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds, while Deron Williams registered 18 points and eight assists for Brooklyn, which struggled behind the arc and hit only 7-of-25 3-pointers. Andray Blatche tallied 11 points and six boards, and Joe Johnson wasn't much of a factor with six points in defeat. The Nets rallied in the second half and outscored Milwaukee, 33-22, in the final stanza. However, it wasn't enough to stop Brooklyn's slide. The Nets committed 22 turnovers, leading to 20 Milwaukee points. Leading scorer Brook Lopez (18.5 ppg) has sat out the past five games with a sprained right foot - during which Brooklyn went 1-4 - but the biggest issue of late has come at the defensive end. After not allowing an opponent to reach 90 points during a five-game winning streak, the Nets have surrendered an average of 106.2 points during the four-game skid. The 7-foot center practiced on Monday and has been listed as a game-time decision. Lopez had 22 points and 11 boards in the first meeting. The Nets (4-0) are the only Atlantic team with a perfect division record.

Free Pick: The Nets have had a good start to their year, but lately their defense has really let them down as they have allowed 106.3 ppg in their last 4 games. The Nets also allow 46.4% shooting overall (26th) and 47.7% shooting at home.   Not good when your about to face a Knicks squad that has averaged a solid 102.8 ppg on the year, Including 101 ppg on the road. The Knicks have also been deadly from long range this year, ranking 3rd in that department, hitting 40.5% of their 3-balls. The Knicks average making 11.7 threes a game on the road, while Nets give up 6 threes a game at home. Offensively the Nets have been good this year, averaging 96.1 ppg overall and 98.4 ppg at home. While not a great 3 ;point shooting team they do average 8 threes made per game at home. and the Knicks give up 7.9 threes on the road. We should get plenty of points from distance in this one. The Knicks are 2nd in defensive FG% (45.1%) and they allow 97.8 ppg on the road, so look for the Nets to score some on them.  I look for this one to finish at 198 or above.
