The Dallas Mavericks road swing continues tonight with a showdown against the Golden State Warriors at ORACLE Arena in Oakland. Start time in this evening’s contest, the second in an NBA TNT double-header, is set for 10:30pm ET. Dallas enters tonight’s game with a 19-26 record, but it has, despite losing three of its last five games, played better of late. The Mavericks are 6-3 in their last nine games and the three losses came against Oklahoma City, San Antonio, and Portland by a combined 12 points.
Dallas opened its current road swing with a 106-104 loss to the Blazers on Tuesday night. The Mavericks, who were playing as a three point road dog, carried a huge 59-42 lead into the break. Portland rallied in the second half, though, and got a buzzer beating basket from LaMarcus Aldridge to drop Dallas road record to an unenviable 7-17.
The Mavs will be forced to regroup against a banged up Golden State team that is 28-17 overall and 5-2 in its last seven games. The Warriors closed out a four game road swing on Tuesday night with a 108-95 win at Cleveland. The victory allowed them to avoid a 1-3 slide as they opened their road set with back to back losses to the Bulls and Bucks.
Golden State should get center Andrew Bogut (ankle) and leading scorer Stephen Curry (ankle) back this evening. Both players, who are listed as day to day, missed Tuesday’s meeting with the Cavaliers.
Golden State, which is 3-7 in its last 10 games against Dallas, does find itself in the dreaded ‘first home game after a long road trip’ situation, though. Historically teams have struggled under such circumstances.
