NBA Playoffs Odds: Spurs vs. Thunder Picks, Predictions and Spread

http://www.washingtonpost.com/rf/image_606w/WashingtonPost/Content/Blogs/early-lead/Images/Thunder_Spurs_Basketball_0676c-1950.jpg?uuid=1ReAIKpnEeGxX6Yfr5tNdg

The NBA Playoffs continue Thursday night in Game 3 between the visiting San Antonio Spurs and the Oklahoma City Thunder. The NBA Playoff odds for the game have the Thunder favored by 4 points. The game is scheduled for a 9:00 pm start time and it will be televised live on TNT. The spread shows that bookmakers have a prediction of a close win at home for the Thunder.

Picks: The Spurs have now won 20 straight games overall and have taken a 2-0 series lead over the Thunder. Both games, however, were fairly close for the most part. San Antonio's offense is really running at a high level right now, taking control when needed and being extremely effective. The Thunder are in an 0-2 hole now but did rebound from a crazy 22-point deficit at one point during the third quarter on Tuesday night. Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said his team needs to continue to play physical if they want to win some games. "We're a physical team. We have to play that way," Brooks said Wednesday. "If we play free-flowing basketball, we can beat some teams but we're not at our best if we're not being physical on the defensive end." The Spurs erupted for 39 points in the fourth quarter of Game 1 and carried that into the second game, shooting 63 percent from the floor and 64 percent from downtown in the win. Oklahoma City is so concerned about their 0-2 hole that they called a team meeting to regroup. If they were able to come back from an 0-2 hole to win the series, they'd become the 15th team ever to recover from dropping the opening two games. Derek Fisher, a veteran who has played some interesting minutes for the Thunder in the playoffs, insists his team isn't panicking yet. James Harden is going to have to score more points to help take some of the pressure off of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. But then again, if Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker keep rolling up points, the Thunder might be in serious trouble.

Prediction: The point spread is interesting, if only because this is essentially a must-win game for the Thunder. We like teams with their backs against the walls who are playing at home, even if they are only laying four points overall. Give us the Thunder to win the game and take the point spread in this contest. Thunder 104, Spurs 96
