Every year on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, NASCAR's longest race of the season is run. The Coca Cola 600 will be run at Charlotte Motor Speedway and has a start time of 6:00 p.m. EST. It will be televised nationally on FOX. Currently Jimmie Johnson is the odds-on favorite at 3/1 to win the race, which is held annually on the Sunday before Memorial Day in the evening after the Indianapolis 500 is run.

Aric Almirola took the pole for the Coca-Cola 600 with a lap of 192.940 mph Thursday night. His Richard Petty Motorsports teammate Marcus Ambrose finished second at 191.598 mph to start second in the race. Petty, regarded as one of the best drivers ever in NASCAR, won 123 poles during his career, but his No. 43 car last sat on the pole for the Coca-Cola 600 back in 1966, some 46 years ago. Jimmie Johnson qualified third and is tabbed as the favorite to win the race, followed by Greg Biffle in fourth and Clint Bowyer. Mark Martin will start sixth and Kasey Kahne seventh, followed by Denny Hamlin, Paul Menard and Regan Smith rounding out the Top 10. Danica Patrick will start 43rd for her first Coca-Cola 600 event.

Odds to win Coca-Cola 600

Jimmie Johnson +300, Kyle Busch +900, Tony Stewart +1000, Carl Edwards +1000, Greg Biffle +1100, Matt Kenseth +1400, Denny Hamlin +1000, Kevin Harvick +1000, Jeff Gordon +2000, Kasey Kahne +1100, Dale Earnhardt Jr. +1800, Brad Keselowski +1800, Martin Truex Jr. +2500, Clint Bowyer +2200, Ryan Newman +4000, Mark Martin +3000, AJ Allmendinger +4000, Joey Logano +4000, Jeff Burton +4000, Jamie McMurray +4000, Juan Montoya +4000, Marcos Ambrose +3500, Paul Menard +4000, The Field (Any other driver) +3000

Predictions: Johnson and Kyle Busch are the only two drivers to be less than 10/1 odds to win the race. Typically more than two drivers are better than 10/1 odds for races, but with 600 miles of wide-open racing, you never know what can happen to the cars or the drivers. With the longest race of the season for NASCAR, a number of things could go wrong, so there obviously are some bigtime longshots. I think Kyle Busch is going to win the race. Pretty good odds at 9/1 for him, so we'll take the value there.
