College Basketball Betting Odds Iowa State Cyclones vs Oklahoma Sooners Free Pick

Monday night college basketball and the Iowa State Cyclones will travel to the Lloyd Noble Center to take on the Oklahoma Sooners. The game has a start time of 9:00 pm (Eastern) and will be televised on ESPN. Current Vegas betting odds have Oklahoma listed as 9 point favorites, while the total is set at 150.

Analysis:  The Iowa State Cyclones bounced back on Saturday from a tough road loss to Kansas with a very easy 37 point home win over Texas Tech. The win now has the Cyclones at 17-5 overall and 7-3 in the Big 12, which is good enough for 2nd place in the conference. ISU has gone 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games, but 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing less than 50 points in their previous game. Iowa State has been a very good offensive team this year, ranking 12th in scoring (79.9 ppg), 11th in shooting (48.9%), 140th in 3 point shooting (35.1%) and 168th in FT shooting (69.3%). Defensively the Cyclones have not been that good as they come in ranked 230th in points allowed (68.1 ppg), 110th in defensive FG% (41.4%) and 191st in 3 point defense (33.9%).

The Oklahoma Sooners come in having won 4 games in a row, which includes a road win at Oklahoma State, a blowout home win over West Virginia and a road win over TCU on Saturday. The Sooners are now 16-7 on the year and in 3rd place in the Big 12 with a 7-4 record.  The Sooners have gone 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. the Big 12 and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 home games. Oklahoma has been a good offensive team this year, ranking 71st in scoring (72.2 ppg), 104th in shooting (44.9%), 158th in 3 point shooting (34.7%) and 69th in FT shooting (72.0%). Defensively the Sooners have been solid, ranking 50th in points allowed (60.7 ppg), 7th in defensive FG% (37.4%) and 18th in 3 point defense (29.3%).

Pick: I will go with the Sooners in this one. Oklahoma has gone 10-1 at home this year, including 4-1 in Big 10 play, with all 4 of their big 12 home wins coming by 10 points or more. They have Wins of 19 over West Virginia, 17 over Oklahoma State and 10 over Baylor all on this floor and those teams are pretty comparable to the talent level of Iowa State. The Cyclones have been awesome at home this year, but on the road they are just 2-3 and have lost their last away from home, including a shocking loss at lowly Texas Tech. That is a team that Oklahoma waxed by 45 a few games ago. The Sooners have the edge of playing at home here, but even bigger may be a defense that has allowed just 55 ppg at home, compared to the 77 ppg that ISU has allowed on the road. I expect the Sonners to win this one by DD.
