MLB Sunday Tampa Bay Rays at Los Angeles Angels: Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Hi-res-hi-res-149775649_crop_exact

Sunday afternoon baseball and we will see the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Los Angeles Angels in game 3 of their 3 game series from Los Angeles. The game is scheduled for a 3:35 (ET) pm start time and it will be televised live on Sun Sports (Tampa Bay) and FS West (Los Angeles). Currently the odds have Los Angeles favored at -138while Tampa Bay is dogs of +130. The total for the game sits at 7.5 runs.

Free Analysis: The Los Angeles Angels can't seem to beat the Tampa Bay Rays, even with an eight-run lead. The Rays will try for a four-game sweep and continue their dominance over the Angels on Sunday in Anaheim. The Rays have won 11 of the last 12 meetings - and 12 of the last 14 at Angel Stadium - following their 10-8 victory Saturday in which they trailed 8-0 after four innings. It was the largest comeback in Rays history, according to Elias Sports Bureau. The Rays have outscored Los Angeles 34-11 in winning the last five meetings - a streak that began with three consecutive shutouts. The Rays, who have won 15 of their last 20 games, are first in the American League wild card race while the Angels, who are 6-12 in August, have fallen 3 1/2 games behind the Baltimore Orioles for the second wild card spot. Tampa Bay's surge has been keyed by its 2.34 ERA during the 10-2 overall stretch. No starter on the team - and perhaps in the league - has been better than Moore (9-7, 3.60 ERA) lately. The rookie continued his outstanding run Tuesday at Seattle, yielding one run and six hits while striking out nine in seven innings, but he was denied a fourth straight winning start when closer Fernando Rodney blew the save. In six starts since the All-Star break, the left-hander is 4-1 with a 1.43 ERA. He has not allowed a home run in his past eight outings, going 52 2-3 innings since last serving one up. Moore is 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two starts against the Angels this season, scattering four hits over 6 1-3 innings in a 3-0 win in Anaheim on July 28. A slow start this season had many wondering what was wrong with the talent-laden Los Angeles Angels. They appeared to get back on track with a strong stretch, but those questions are sure to come up again after arguably their worst loss of the season. Adding Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson to an 86-win team appeared to make the Angels instant contenders, but a 6-14 start had some asking if longtime manager Mike Scioscia's job was in jeopardy. The Angels (62-59) turned things around by winning 25 of 33 from May 22-June 28 and were within three games of AL West-leading Texas on July 31. They've been unable to sustain that success, however, and are 5-12 this month, dropping into third place in the division and eight games behind the Rangers. Zach Greinke wasn't particularly sharp in his last outing but earned a 9-6 victory over Cleveland on Tuesday after allowing four runs, eight hits and striking out five in six innings. Greinke, who was 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA with the Milwaukee Brewers before he was traded to the Angels, allowed two runs, seven hits and struck out eight in seven innings against the Rays on July 29 to fall to 2-5 lifetime against them. Tampa Bay's roster is hitting .186 against him, with Matt Joyce (5-for-13, homer, two RBIs) having the most success.

Free Pick: Im gonna look to the Rays in this game. This is a team that is rolling right now and they have certainly had the Halos number this year. The Rays are 8-1 vs the Angels this year and have outscored them by a 34-11 over the last 5 games of the series. Last night the Halos put up 8 runs in the game, but vs Tampa pitching the have scored just 11 total runs in the other 8 games these teams have played this year and It won't get easier for this offense today. Matt Moore has been very hot for the Rays of late, going 3-0 with an 0.73 ERA in his last 4 starts. The Rays offense has also been hot of late as they have averaged 6.5 rpg in their last 10 games and they will be taking on Zack Greinke, who has struggled in the AL of late, posting a 6.63 ERA and a 1.68 WHIP in his last 3 starts. The Angels offense has been solid of late (4.9 rpg in their last 10 games), but as I stated they just haven't had much success vs Rays pitching this year and they have struggled vs lefties of late hitting just .221 and scoring just 1.9 rp/ 9 off of them in their last 10 games. Look for Tampa to complete the sweep here.
