MLB Sunday Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants

Sunday night baseball and we will see the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the San Francisco Giants at AT&T park in San Francisco. First pitch is scheduled for an 8:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on ESPN. Current Betting Odds, according to Sportsbook.ag, have San Francisco listed as the favorite.

Current Odds

Los Angeles     +117
San Francisco  -127

Analysis: The Dodgers received a boost Saturday from shortstop Dee Gordon, who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and two steals in his first game since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque. Gordon batted eighth in his season debut, with Carl Crawford remaining in the leadoff spot. First baseman Adrian Gonzalez has missed the first two games of the series with a stiff neck, but is hoping to be available Sunday. Hyun-Jin Ryu’s first career start was against the Giants, a 3-0 loss in which he gave up three runs in six innings of work, though only one of the runs was earned. He allowed 10 hits in that game, but walked none and fanned five. The 26-year-old lefty looked dominant in his most recent outing, fanning a career-high 12 batters in six innings while giving up just two runs against a Colorado Rockies squad that enters the weekend with a National League-best 148 runs. Ryu has an impressive 46 strikeouts in just 37.2 innings this season. The southpaw does not have the benefit of a strong bullpen behind him. Dodgers relievers enter the weekend with a 4.59 ERA (4th-worst in MLB) and 1.48 WHIP (3rd-worst in majors).

The San Francisco Giants look for their sixth straight victory in Sunday’s series finale against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers, who have lost the first two games in dramatic fashion. San Francisco hit walk-off home runs in back-to-back games for first time since 2003, with pinch hitter Guillermo Quiroz lining his third career homer to give the Giants a 10-9 win in 10 innings on Saturday. Quiroz backs up reigning National League Most Valuable Player Buster Posey, who is batting .370 with four home runs and 14 RBIs over the last 14 games. Matt Cain’s shaky start continued Monday when he allowed four runs over six innings against the Diamondbacks. Cain has given up nine home runs in his last four starts, including three in one inning in his last outing. The 28-year-old faced the Dodgers on Opening Day in Los Angeles and tossed six scoreless innings. He is 4-8 with a 3.27 ERA in 24 career starts against the Dodgers, including 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA in his last 10 outings.

Pick: Really like the under in this one. Nationally televised game and you can bet that both starters will be pumped here. Matt Cain has struggled in the early going, but he is not a pitcher that will carry a 6.49 ERA for much longer. In 241 career starts he has a 3.34 ERA, while in the park he has an ERA of 3.07 over his career. We also note that he has a 3.27 ERA in 24 starts vs the Dodgers, but just a 4-8 mark in those ames, which would indicate low scoring games and the Under is 4-1 in his last 5 home starts vs LA. Hyun-jin Ryu had some early struggles, but he has settled down, allowing just 3 ER's total in his last 2 starts. He did allow 3 run in his first start vs the Giants, but just 1 run was earned. Both offenses had good night's last night, but tonight it will be a different story as this has the makings of a pitcher's duel.
