The Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers end their weekend series in Major League Baseball action on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 2:10 p.m. start time and the Twins are listed as a small favorite to pick up the win.
Total: 8.5 runs
The Tigers are real banged up right now and it’s an indication of why the Twins are favored here. Miguel Cabrera, JD Martinez and JaCoby Jones could all miss significant time moving forward and Detroit is going to have to find a way to hang around in the standings and not let Cleveland get too far ahead of them.
As it is, Michael Fulmer gets the ball here. He’s 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA, though he struggled to consistently throw strikes in his last outing against Tampa Bay where he gave up three earned runs.
Kyle Gibson (0-2, 6.91) has pitched well against the Tigers in his career and the guys with the better numbers (Cabrera, Martinez) obviously aren’t going to play in this one. Detroit is just 4-6 in road games, but Fulmer could be in a position to eat up some innings here and get them a road win.
