The Tampa Bay Rays will attempt to avoid a home series loss tonight as they square off against the Toronto Blue Jays at Tropicana Field. This evening’s game three meeting between the Blue Jays and Rays is scheduled to get underway at 7:10pm ET. The latest MLB Odds have Tampa Bay listed as a -182 moneyline favorite ($182 wins $100) and the Over/Under set at 7.5 runs (Over favored at -125 odds). Toronto is getting +152 odds to win fourth straight game.

 

Toronto (13-21) had lost eight of 10 games prior to its arrival in Tampa Bay for a four game set with the Rays, but it has found itself, at least for the time being, against a team it usually struggles against.

 

The Blue Jays took game one 8-7, snapping a five game losing streak (dating back to last season) to Tampa Bay. Toronto followed that win up with a 6-4 victory last night, despite starter J.A. Happ leaving in the second inning after being hit in the head with a line drive.

 

The Jays will seek the series win tonight with the once good, but now questionable Ricky Romero on the hill. Romero, who put together great seasons for Toronto in 2010 (3.73 ERA) and 2011 (2.92 ERA) but fell off last year (5.77 ERA), is making his second start of the year. He gave up three hits and three earned runs over four innings in his season debut last Friday, a 0-4 home loss to the Mariners.

 

The 14-18 Rays will look to save the series with lefty Matt Moore toeing the rubber. Moore is coming off his worst outing of the season, a 7-4 win over the Rockies in which he allowed seven hits and four earned runs over five innings; however, he is 5-0 in six starts (Rays 6-0) with a 1.95 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.

 

Notable Trends: The Rays are 6-0 in their last six games as a home favorite against a left handed pitcher with a moneyline spread between 180 and 200. Tampa Bay is 3-0 as a home favorite against Toronto with Matt Moore on the hill (Over was 3-0 in those games).
