MLB Odds Kansas City Royals vs Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles will take aim at a fifth straight win and series sweep when they battle the Kansas City Royals later tonight. This evening’s series finale between the Royals and Orioles is scheduled to get underway at 7:05pm ET at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. MLB Odds have the hosting Orioles listed as a -111 moneyline favorite ($111 wins $100) and the Over/Under set at 8.5 runs. Kansas City is drawing +101 odds ($110 wins $101) to avoid its first sweep of the season.

Kansas City lost its third consecutive game for the first time this season when it fell 5-3 at Oriole Park last night. The loss, which dropped the Royals record to 17-13 and left them 1.5 games back of the Tigers in the AL Central, also ensured the team’s first series loss since it lost 3-2 to the Blue Jays on April 13th.

Fortunately for Kansas City, former Oriole Jeremy Guthrie will be on the hill tonight. Guthrie is not an ace stopper; however, his numbers as a Royal are quite startling. Kansas City is 15-2 in Guthrie’s last 17 starts while he has not suffered a loss since August 3rd of last year.

Of course, that record may be part good fortune, but it also has a lot to do with how well Guthrie has performed since being acquired by the Royals, particularly this year. Guthrie enters tonight’s game with a 2.40 ERA and 1.11 WHIP and he has allowed just 10 hits and zero earned runs in his last 15.2 innings of work.

Baltimore will counter Guthrie with 14 year veteran Freddy Garcia. Garcia, a 36 year old right hander out of Venezuela, is making just his second start of the season; he gave up three hits and two earned runs over 6.2 innings in his first outing, a 5-4 win over the Angels.

For his career, Garcia is 10-13 with a 5.69 ERA in 30 appearances against the Royals (28 starts).

Notable Trends: The Royals are 5-0 this season playing as a road dog off a game two loss.

Kansas City Royals +1.5 (-200), Over 8.5 (-110), +101 (Moneyline)

Baltimore Orioles -1.5 (+170), Under 8.5 (-110), -111 (Moneyline)
