The Major League Baseball season continue this evening with a game between the Detroit Tigers and the visiting Toronto Blue Jays. The game is scheduled for a 6:40 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLV.tv as the free game of the day. Currently the MLB Odds for the game have the host Tigers listed as a small favorite to pick up the victory at home.

I'm backing the Tigers and Jack Flaherty tonight against the Blue Jays. Detroit is coming off a sweep by Kansas City and has been in free fall the last couple weeks. The Tigers started out very strong and had solid pitching, but the offense continues to be a struggle.
Kevin Gausman has certainly had a strong past, this year he has an ERA almost at 5.00 through nine starts. He's really only been touched up in three games or so to date, losses to Colorado, the Yankees and the Twins have seen him yield 17 of his 23 earned runs in those three games. Current Tigers are also just kind of OK against him as well, hitting .221 over 77 at bats. Gausman's splits are also better on the road, his ERA is a full three runs lower (3.06 vs 6.20) in just one fewer start.
Flaherty takes the mound for the Tigers, he's 1-3 with a 3.79 ERA in his starts. He's struck out 72 batters in just 54 innings of work, but the Blue Jays do not strike out a lot, sitting at the second fewest of any team in the league. If Flaherty can command the strike zone tonight he could have success.
The Tigers have lost four in a row while the Jays have won three of the last four. Toronto, with Gausman on the mound, should be a favorite here but they aren't. I'll take the Tigers.
