The Brew Crew will look to stop the bleeding tonight with Yovani Gallardo on the hill and his career numbers against the Phillies would suggest that is possible. The six year veteran is 3-0 with a 1.74 ERA in three career appearances opposite Philadelphia; however, all of those starts came at Miller Park.

Gallardo’s current numbers point toward a different outcome as the Mexico native sports a 1-3 road record in four road starts. Gallardo, who has witnessed the Brewers lose his last five starts, posted a 5.32 ERA in those four outings.

The 26-28 Phillies will counter Gallardo with the similarly unproductive Cole Hamels. Hamels is 1-8 with a 4.43 ERA in 11 starts this season. The veteran lefty has struck out 16 in his last 12.1 innings of work (two starts), but a lack of run support rendered his efforts useless (Phillies lost 1-5 at Miami and 1-6 at Washington).

Philadelphia, which is averaging a paltry 1.4 runs per game in Hamels last five starts, is 1-10 with Hamels on the hill this season.
