Betting Odds
Rangers +139
Orioles -149
Over/ Under: 8.5 O -115
This is game 2 of a 4 game series between these American League foes. Last night it was the Rangers that shocked the Orioles in the 8-1 win as Texas got another huge game from Wandy Rodriguez, who has really found the fountain of youth this year. Despite the win the Rangers have won just 2 of their last 9 games and have fallen to 3rd place in the AL West. The Orioles came in off a DH sweep of the Indians, in which they shut the Tribe out in both games. Still the Orioles have won 7 of their last 9 and have a half a game lead over the Yanks for first place in the AL East. The Rangers rank 11th in scoring (4.34 rpg), while on the mound they are 17th in ERA (4.01). Baltimore ranks 3rd in scoring (4.59 rpg), while on the mound they are 11th in ERA (3.73).
Trend for this game include: The Rangers are 32-12 in their last 44 vs. a team with a winning record, but just 5-11 in Lewis' last 16 starts with 4 days of rest and 1-5 in their last 6 games vs. a right-handed starter. The Orioles are 44-17 in their last 61 home games vs. a right-handed starter, 26-10 in Gonzalez's last 36 home starts and 35-17 in their last 52 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Getting the ball for Texas tonight will be Colby Lewis, who has gone 7-3 with a 4.10 ERA in 15 starts this year, while on the road he has gone 4-3 with a 4.59 ERA. Colby has gone 1-4 with a 6.35 ERA in 8 career games (6 starts) vs the O's, while at Camden Yards he is 0-3 with a 5.74 ERA in 5 games (4 starts).
Toeing the rubber for the Orioles tonight will be Miguel Gonzalez, who is 6-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 13 starts this year, while at home he is 4-0 with a 1.89 ERA. Miguel is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 3 career starts vs the Rangers.
Pick: I will go with the Orioles to bounce back in this game. They are 11-2 the last 13 in the series and 6-1 the last 7 games in the series played here. The have been an excellent home team of last and have won 16 of their last 21 overall, while texas is headed in the opposite direction, going just 2-7 in their last 9 games. Miguel Gonzalez has been excellent at home with a 4-0 record and a 1.89 ERA and while Colby is 4-3 on the road he does have a 4.59 ERA away from home, plue he has terrible numbers vs the O's, whole Gonzalez has good numbers vs the Rangers. I just can't see the Orioles losing two in a row at home, especially with the much better starter on the mound.

Stop the All-Star Game Ballot Stuffing
Pro handicappers Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik have a bone to pick with MLB Commisioner Bud Selig, who decided the All-Star exhibition game will determine World Series home field advantage. With Royals fans currently voting seven Kansas City players into the starting line up of the American League team, this popularity-based roster of an exhibition game which has way too much impact on the most important baseball series of the year.
