Seattle Mariners vs Minnesota Twins Major League Baseball Odds Free Pick

Major league baseball on Thursday night and we will see the Seattle Mariners travel to Target Field to take on the Minnesota Twins in game 1 of their 4 game series. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 8:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Betting Odds

Seattle               +135
Minnesota           -145

Over/ Under: 9 U -115

Getting out on the road might be good for the Mariners as they just lost 4 of 6 at home, which includes getting swept by the D-Backs. The Mariner are now 10 games under .500 and in 4th place in the AL West. The Twins also come in struggling as they have won just 2 of their last 10 games. They are in 2nd place in the AL Central, but still 9 games behind the Royals. Seattle ranks 26th in scoring (3.61 rpg), while on the mound they are 19th in ERA (3.95). The Twins come in ranked 12th in scoring (4.24 rpg), while on the mound they are 21st in ERA (3.95).

Trends for tonight’s game includes:  The Mariners are 16-6 in their last 22 games following a loss, but 1-10 in Happ's last 11 starts on grass, while the 20-7 in their last 27 home games vs. a team with a losing record, but 2-8 in their last 10 when their opponent scores 2 runs or less in their previous game.

Getting the ball for the Mariners tonight will be J.A. Happ, who is 4-5 with a 4.27 ERA on the year overall, while on the road he has gone 2-3 with a 5.37 ERA in 10 starts. Happ is 1-1 with a 3.60 ERA in 3 games (2 starts) in his career vs the Twins.

Taking the hill for Minnesota tonight will be Phil Hughes, who is 9-6 with a 3.93 ERA in 20 starts this year, while at home he has gone 7-2 with a 3.56 ERA in 11 starts. Phil is 6-4 with a 3.08 ERA in 13 games (10 starts) in his career vs the Mariners.

Pick: Neither team is playing all that well right now, but I will go with the home team in this one as they have the better starter and the better offense. The Mariner offense had trouble scoring vs a weak Arizona staff and I don't see them geting much off of Hughes, who has pitched well at home this year where he is 7-2 with a 3.56 ERA. J.A. Happ has not pitched well overall and has especially struggled on the road, where he is 2-3 with a 5.37 ERA. Happ also has a 7.11 ERA in his last 3 starts and the Twins hit lefties at a .273 clip at home. Minnesota is 12th in the league in scoring overall, while Seattle is 26th. Better pitching and hitting goes to the home team and that is the side I will be on here.

College Football Betting Pick: Utah vs Michigan
Jim Harbaugh is worth six points to Michigan according to the recently released Golden Nugget NCAA Football odds, but pro bettors Steve Fezzik and Scott Spreitzer think fans are expecting way too much way too soon for the new Wolverines head coach. In this 9/3/2015 match up, the guys think the Utes are on the way up, recruiting top Pac-12 talent, while Harbaugh and company will be struggling to find their stride this early in the season.
