Major League Baseball Saturday Seattle Mariners vs New York Yankees Start Time Odds Free Pick

Major league baseball on Saturday afternoon and we will see the Seattle Mariners take on the New York Yankees in game 2 of their 3 game series from Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Free Pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 1:05 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on the MLB Network.

Betting Odds

Seattle                  +140
New York              -150

Over/ Under: 8 U -115

The Mariners did not have a good first half of the season and they went into the break 7 games under .500. They began the second half with a loss after losing 4-3 last night to the Yanks.  The Yanks went into the break with a 3.5 game lead over Tampa Bay and after last night's win they now have increased their lead to 4.5 games in the AL East over both Tampa Bay & Toronto.

The Mariners rank 27th in scoring (3.50 rpg), 29th in hitting (.235) and 9th in homers (95), while on the mound they are 17th in ERA (3.83) and 14th in WHIP (1.26). New York ranks 2nd in scoring (4.64 rpg), 15th in hitting (.254) and 2nd in homers (118), while on the mound they are 19th in ERA (3.95) and 15th in WHIP (1.26).

Getting the ball for the Mariners today will be Hisashi Iwakuma, who is 1-1 with a 5.22 ERA in 5 starts this year, while on the road he has gone 0-0 with a 7.20 ERA in 1 start. In his career he is 18-8 with a 3.47 ERA in 43 games (36 starts) on the road. Iwakuma is 1-2 with a 3.33 ERA in 4 career starts vs them.

Taking the hill for the Yankees today will be Michael Pineda, who is 9-5 with a 3.64 ERA in 17 starts this year, while at home he has gone 4-2 with a 3.21 ERA in 9 starts this year. Michael is 1-0 with 3.00 ERA in 1 career start vs the Mariners.

Pick: I will go with the Yanks in this game. They are playing solid ball right now and I feel they have the better starter on the mound. Iwakuma is off a solid start in his last outing, but facing an inconsistent Angels offense a home is a lot different than facing this yankees offense on the road. The Yanks at home this year have averaged 5.5 rpg overall and have hit righties at a .279 clip at home, while scoring 6.17 rp/9 off pf them in this park this year. That is not offense that the Mariners can come up with, especially since they are facing a hot Pineda, who has a 1.25 ERA in his last 3 starts, while at home he is 4-2 with a 3.21 ERA, plus he is 3-1 with a 2.02 ERA in day starts this year. Nothing to like here about the Mariners, so I will go with the hotter and more consistent team in this one.

MoviePhiladelphia Eagles: 2015 NFL Free Picks & Betting Odds
Pro bettor Teddy Covers thinks the best bet for an NFC win totals bet is that Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles squads will not be able to win more than nine games this season. Covers and fellow pro Steve Fezzik note that Kelly has a terrible record against losing teams, not to mention a potentially divisive locker room issues after many players, including former Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, suggest Kelly is a racist. With those problems, plus questionable acquisitions in Sam Bradford and DeMarco Murray, this is likely going to be a lackluster season for this squad.
