Major League Baseball Odds Tampa Bay Rays vs Detroit Tigers

Saturday baseball and we will see the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Detroit Tigers in game 3 of their 4 game series from Comerica Park in Detroit, Michigan. First pitch is scheduled for a 4:08 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.

Current Odds

Tampa Bay    +124
Detroit            -134

Over/ Under: 8 U -115

Analysis: The Tampa Rays have not had a good year to this point in the season, but they may have turned the corner as they come in playing better ball of late, winning 8 of their last 10 games. The Rays have been pretty sorry on offense this year, ranking 26th in the league in scoring (3.76 rpg), 18th in hitting (.248) and 22nd in homers (71). The pitching for the Rays has been average at best as they rank 19th in ERA (3.88) and 13th in WHIP (1.26). They are, however, 1st in the league in Ks with (771). Taking the hill for Tampa Bay will be Chris Archer, who is 4-5 with a 3.24 ERA overall, while on the road he is 1-3 with a 3.86 ERA. Chris is 0-0 with a 5.40 ERA in 1 career start vs the Tigers.

Detroit lost last night's game to the Rays, but still they have been playing very well of late, as they have won 12 of their last 15 games, which now has them with a 4 game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the AL Central. The Tigers have been a very good offensive team this year, ranking 4th in the league in scoring (4.71), 2nd in hitting (.278) and 6th in homers (90). Very solid numbers all around for the Tigers. The pitching has been pretty weak, as they come in ranked 21st in the league in ERA (3.95) and 17th in WHIP (1.30). Getting the ball for Detroit today will be Anibal Sanchez, who is 5-2 with 2.63 ERA on the year overall, while at home he has gone 3-2 with a 2.75 ERA. Sanchez is 2-1 with a 4.05 ERA in 4 career starts vs the Rays.

Pick: Going with the Tigers in this one. This game features a couple of hot team, but the Tigers at home with Sanchez on the mound gets the call here. Chris Archer is just 1-3 with a 3.86 ERA on the road this year, while Sanchez is 3-2 with a solid 2.75 ERA at home for the year. The Rays are 0-7 in Chris Archer's last 7 starts after he had a quality start in his previous start and they are 3-9 in their last 12 meetings in Detroit, while the Tigers are 8-3 in Anibal's last 11 starts vs the AL East. Tigers take one back here.
