The Pitching for the A’s has been very good as well, as they are 2nd in the league in ERA (3.08) and 2nd in WHIP (1.16). Getting the ball for the A’s tonight will be Jeff Samardzija, who is 3-7 with a 2.73 ERA overall, but 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his lone start with the A’s. Seattle is struggling a bit right now as they have won just 2 of their last games, and lost the last 3 in the series with the Twins. The Mariners are still 49-43 on the year, but just 22-25 at home. The Mariners offense has sputtered for much of the year, ranking 18th in scoring (4.00 rpg), 23rd in hitting (.244) and 20th in homers (76). The pitching has been very good for the Mariners, as they come in ranked 3rd in ERA (3.18) and 2nd in WHIP (1.16). Getting the ball for the Mariners tonight will be Felix Hernandez, who is 10-2 with a 2.11 ERA overall, while at home he is 6-2 with a 2.16 ERA. Felix is 17-7 with a 2.64 ERA in 32 career starts vs the A’s.
Pick: Going with the A's in this one. I know that King Felix is on the mound and he has good numbers vs the A's, but this Oakland team continues to find ways to win and Jeff Sam is just having a great year (ERA Wise) and while his record doesn't show it, he is now with a team that will put some runs on the board for him. Seattle is struggling and I just don't see them breaking out in this one vs the best team in baseball.
