Major League Baseball Odds Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals

Saturday night baseball and we will see the Atlanta Braves take on the Washington Nationals in game 3 of their 4 game series from Nationals Park in Washington DC. First pitch is scheduled for a 7:15 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised on FOX.

Current Odds

Atlanta                 +109
Washington           -119

Over/ Under: 7 O -115

Analysis: The Atlanta Braves had come into this series reeling, but they have taken the first two games and in the process have taken back the lead in the NL East. The Braves are 24-7 the last 31 in the series, including going 8-1 vs them this year. The Braves have really struggled at the plate this year, as they come in ranked 28th in scoring (3.66 rpg), 20th in hitting (.245) and 11th in homers (71). The pitching has been the thing that has kept this team afloat this year, as they come in ranked 5th in ERA (3.35), 13th in WHIP (1.27) and 1st in quality starts (51). Getting the ball for the Braves tonight will be Julio Teheran, who is 6-4 with a 2.31 ERA on the year, while going 4-3 with a 3.72 ERA on the road. Julio is 3-1 with a 2.93 ERA in 7 career starts vs the Nationals, including going 2-0 with a 3.32 ERA in 3 career starts in this park.

The Washington Nationals come in having won just 2 of their last 6 games, and have now fallen a half game behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. The Nationals are a very average offensive team, as they come in ranked 17th in the league in scoring (4.07 rpg), 19th in hitting (.246) and 19th in homers (63). This offense will really start to turn things around when Harper comes back. The pitching, though, has been solid, as they come in ranked 2nd in ERA (3.11) and 5th in WHIP (1.22). Doug Fister will get the call tonight and he comes in with a 5-2 mark and a 3.08 ERA overall, while at home he is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA. Doug is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 1 career start vs the Braves.

Pick:  Going With the Braves here as they seem to be turning it around, while the Nats are headed in the opposite direction. Also doesn't hurt to know that the Braves have dominated this team this year, winning 8 of the 9 games played so far. I also like Teheran over Fister as well here. The Braves offense is still dangerous, while the Nats offense is still injury riddled and is struggling of late, having score just 20 total runs in their last 7 games. Look for the Braves to take yet another game from the Nats here.
