They have really struggled at home this year, luckily for them, I guess, is that this game is on the road. The Diamondbacks come in ranked 22nd in the league in scoring (3.85 rpg), 17th in hitting (.251) and 17th in homers (48). Their pitching has been very bad this year as they are ranked dead last in the league in ERA (4.47) and 22nd in WHIP (1.34). Getting the ball for Arizona tonight will be Bronson Arroyo, who is 4-4 with a 4.39 ERA on the year overall, including 3-2 with a 3.35 ERA on the road. Bronson is 4-4 with a 4.49 ERA in 14 appearances (12 starts) vs the Rockies, but 1-3 with a 7.62 ERA in 6 career starts at Coors Field.
The Colorado Rockies come in at 28-30 overall, but are a solid 16-9 at home. The Rockies come in 3rd in the league in scoring (4.96 rpg), 1st in hitting (.284) and 2nd in homers (73). Like always the pitching just isn’t there for this team, as they come in ranked 26th in ERA (4.27) and 20th in WHIP (1.33). Juan Nicasio gets the ball for the Rockies in this one and he comes in with a 5-3 mark and a 4.06 ERA on the year overall, including 3-0 with a 3.60 ERA in 6 home starts this year. Juan is 2-1 but with a high 6.23 ERA in 6 career starts vs the Diamondbacks.
Pick: I will look to the over in this one. Bronson Arroyo has a 7.62 ERA in his career in this park and while Juan Nicasio is 2-1 vs the D-backs, he does have a 6.23 ERA vs them in 6 career starts. Juan has a 3.60 EDRA at home, but his home starts have averaged 14.17 rpg, thanks to the fact that the Rockies have scored 9.67 rpg for him at Coors. The Rockies have also scored 8.21 rp/9 off of righties at home this year. Bronson Arroyo does have a 3.35 ERA on the road this year, but he does struggle in this park and he also has a 5.57 ERA at night this year. The Arizona offense is also coming around, as they have averaged 5.5 rpg in their last 10 games and put up 16 runs on the Rockies last night. Should be a rather easy over here.
