The Major League Baseball season continues this evening with a game between the Oakland Athletics and the New York Yankees. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the MLB odds for the game have the Yankees listed as a massive favorite to pick up the victory here at home.
MLB Odds
New York -250
Total: O 7.5 runs (-120), U 7.5 runs (EVEN)
I'm going to be backing the Yankees tonight on the runline. It's scheduled to be the only game starting at night and is the final game of the series between these two. The Yanks haven't gotten off to the best start at the plate yet, but they are second in the league in walks (who knew?) and I think they'll obviously going to get it going sooner rather than later.
There are several guys in pinstripes who have struggled against lefties, which they will see tonight with Alex Wood. He's struggled so much to this point in the year, though, with 33 hits in just over 21 innings of work. He's registered 11 walks and given up only three homers, but carries an ERA of almost 8 already. I'm expecting the Yankees to be able to get to him early and connect for some runs.
Wood is averaging just over four innings per start this year and better than 87 pitches in those starts. He's struggling enough that I will take the yankees to win by a couple.
Also, it's nice to have Netor Cortes getting the ball for New York. Cortes is a bulldog and is coming off an impressive start last time out with seven scoreless innings and nine punchouts.
