The New York Mets are on the road tonight, taking on the Miami Marlins in Major League Baseball. Harvey has dropped five games on the road this season in nine starts compared to just three wins, but he has a very solid 3.14 road ERA. His numbers are better at home, but the hard-throwing righty is still going to bring a solid effort to the mound tonight for the Mets.
Current Marlins have a career .223 average against him in 94 plate appearances. Justin Bour has homered off Harvey in his career, but other than that no one has really had any success against Harvey. In his last start against the Fish Harvey lasted eight innings, surrendered four runs and struck out 11 while walking only one. He didn't pick up the win, though, as the Mets plated just three runs in the contest.
The Marlins are now 21 games under the .500 mark and fading fast. A loss tonight would mean a sweep by the Mets with four straight coming up on the road at Atlanta before taking on Boston and St. Louis in the following week.
David Phelps gets the ball tonight for the Marlins, he's 4-7 with a 3.93 ERA so far this season and hasn't picked up a win since June 16 over the Yankees. He's dropped four decisions since then during a span of seven starts.
Current Mets have an average of .189 against Phelps in 74 at bats, Wilmer Flores owns the only home run in that time. Daniel Murphy has collected four hits in nine at bats to hold the highest average against Phelps.
With Harvey on the mound and the Mets playing great baseball, they should be the pick here tonight against the struggling Marlins.
