Major League Baseball Minnesota Twins at Boston Red Sox Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Boston Red Sox welcome in the Minnesota Twins in Major League Baseball action today. The game is is scheduled for a 1:35 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv as well as locally in both markets. Currently the odds for the game have the Red Sox listed as a decent favorite to pick up the win at home.

Clay Bucholz spun a great game last night in a win over the Twins, tossing eight innings of scoreless baseball. Today the Red Sox give the ball to Eduardo Rodriguez, the rookie who earned his first victory over the Texas Rangers where he struck out seven hitters in his Major League debut. The rookie, a left hander, is going to have to keep the ball in and out of the strike zone today as the Twins clearly hit lefties well.

Minnesota this season owns an average of .278 against lefties this season in 615 at bats; not exactly a poor average. The Twins have 15 home runs in those at bats as well and will be looking to launch today in Fenway Park. Don't forget Minnesota still sits atop the American League Central with their 30-20 mark, the second best record in the American League.

Boston lives in the cellar of the American League East, but there's still miles and miles of baseball left. Strangely the Red Sox are just 11-12 on the year in home games.

The Twins will give the ball to Phil Hughes. He's 4-4 with a 4.59 ERA this season, but Red Sox are hitting .314 against him in 140 at bats. Dustin Pedroia owns him with five home runs and 14 RBI in 38 at bats, collecting a .342 average in that time. David Ortiz and Mike Napoli also have homered twice against Hughes.

In this game today, if Rodriguez can be solid enough for the Red Sox against a good lefty-hitting Twins team, Boston should be able to score some runs. We'll take the Red Sox.

Movie Free MLB Betting Pick: Oakland As at Detroit Tigers

Yes, the Oakland A's started out the 2015 MLB season terribly, but pro bettor Teddy Covers thinks the As are starting to turn things around, especially when Sonny Gray is on the mound. Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers batting line-up is struggling to hit the ball, rarely scoring more than three runs. With that in mind, Teddy likes the As in this match up.
