The Chicago Cubs welcome in the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 8:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPN2. Currently the odds for the game have the Dodgers favored to pick up the win on the road.
The Cubs enter tonight's game against the Dodgers with a record of nine games over the .500 mark. Chicago fans are alive and well this year as Joe Maddon had brought a nice breath of fresh air. Chicago has now won four straight games and will look to take a third game from the Dodgers to pick up the 40th win of the season.
Los Angeles has looked like the best team in the National League at times this season and the Dodgers still lead the NL West over the arch-rival San Francisco Giants. LA has been lights out at home this season, holding a record of 14 games over the .500 mark, but they have struggled mightily on the road, going just 12-20 this year.
The Dodgers will give the ball to Mike Bolsinger, who is 4-2 with a 2.87 ERA this year. Bolsinger hasn't won a decision on the road yet, going 0-1 with a 3.80 ERA in 21 1/3 innings. The Dodgers have split each of his last four starts as well, Bolsinger is officially 1-1 in those games as well. He was touched up recently in his last start as well, giving up five earned runs over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Giants.
Current Cubs have an .071 average against Bolsinger, Tommy La Stella has the only hit against him.
Chicago will send out Kyle Hendricks. He's 2-3 with a 4.28 ERA this year, but has just an 0-1 record at home in 28 2/3 innings of work. His last home start against Cincinnati was decent, Kendricks threw five innings and allowed just one earned run, but had a no decision.
Current Dodgers have had no success against Kendricks. Only Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner have base hits against him, the rest of the Dodgers are a combined 0-for-16.
There might not be a lot of runs in this one, the Cubs are solid at home and Los Angeles is poor on the road. This close game goes to Chicago.
