The Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for an 8:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on MLB.tv live from Arizona. Currently the betting odds for the game have the Dodgers listed as a big favorite to pick up the victory on the road in this one.
Clayton Kershaw seems to always be around a -200 pitcher when it comes to the moneyline. Kershaw has dominated the National League the past four seasons, posting a record of 72-26 while never having a season above 2.53 when it comes to ERA. Last year Kershaw won the NL MVP and Cy Young awards, pitching his team to 21 wins compared to just three losses with an ERA of 1.77 while fanning 239. It really was an amazing season and Kershaw has built the reputation as being the best pitcher on the planet.
And tonight the Diamondbacks have to try and figure out a way to scratch some runs across the plate. Arizona hasn't been terrible at the plate this season, ranking about average (13th) in runs scored with 17 through four games. The Diamond hitters aren't having the best start to the season at just .220, but they are taking advantage when they get guys on base. Arizona is 2-2 for the season.
LA is 2-2 as well, picking up a win in Kershaw's only start so far, despite him earning a no decision. The San Diego Padres picked up three earned runs on Kershaw in six innings of work, while striking out nine times as well.
Arizona will send Archie Bradley to the mound tonight, in what will be his Major League debut. It's going to be tough against a pretty solid lineup that the Dodgers throw out there, especially with how hot Adrian Gonzalez is right now. But Bradley's team has a bit of some momentum heading into this one tonight, having picked up a 4-3 over the Dodgers last night.
But tonight, it's hard to see the Diamondbacks beating up Kershaw enough to find a way to win. It's going to probably take more than just a good inning against him, even if the Diamondbacks are at home.
