Saturday night major league baseball and we will see the Colorado Rockies travel to Chavez Ravine to take on the LA Dodgers. Free pick to follow. First pitch is scheduled for a 9:10 PM (Eastern) start time and the game will be televised locally.
Over/ Under: 7 O -125
This is game 3 of a 4 game series between these NL West foes. The Rockies took game 1 of the series, but the Dodgers bounceback with a 6-4 score in game 2. LA is now 23-12 on the year and in first place in the NL West. Colorado had a nice start to their year, but since then the bottom has fallen out and they have won just 1 of their last 13 games. Colorado ranks 22nd in the league in scoring (3.91 rpg), while on the mound they are 30th in ERA (5.30). The Dodgers rank 1st in scoring (5.26 rpg), while on the mound they are 4th in ERA (3.27).
Trends for this game include: The Rockies have gone 8-20 in their last 28 vs. the National League West and 11-46 in their last 57 road games vs. a right-handed starter, plus 8-46 in their last 54 games as a road underdog of +151 to +200. The Dodgers have gone 41-10 in their last 51 games as a favorite of -201 or greater and 25-5 in Greinke's last 30 starts vs. the National League West, plus 28-7 in his last 35 home starts.
Getting the ball for Colorado tonight will be Jorge De La Rosa, who comes in at 0-2 with a high 9.56 ERA and a bad 2.19 WHIP on the year. He has not had good success vs the Dodgers, going 5-10 with a 5.89 ERA in 22 games (18 starts) vs them, while at Chavez Ravine he is 1-5 with a 4.84 ERA in 11 games (8 starts).
Getting the ball for the Dodgers tonight will be Zack Greinke, who is off to an impressive start as he is 5-0 with a 1.52 ERA in 7 starts so far. Zach is 7-2 with a 3.57 ERA in 15 games (14 starts) vs the Rockies and he is an amazing 21-4 with a 2.37 ERA in 34 career starts at Chavez Ravine.
Pick: Despite how well Greinke has pitched this year so far I will will be going with the Over in this game. The Dodgers are the top offense in the league and the Rockies have the worst ERA in the league. Heck LA may score 7 on their own in this game. De La Rosa is not good away from home and the Rockies offense is more than capable of plating a few runs. I look for at least 8 runs in this one.
