Major League Baseball Chicago White Sox at Detroit Tigers Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

The Detroit Tigers welcome in the Chicago White Sox today in Major League Baseball action. The game is scheduled for a 1:08 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on MLB.tv. Currently the odds for the game have the Tigers favored to pick up the win as they return home from a road stand.

Miguel Cabrera got a day off yesterday and the Tigers fell in the series finale with Cleveland. Skipper Brad Ausmus said even Superman needs a day off once in a while, Detroit's man of steel probably benefited from it.

The Tigers host the White Sox today, who lost with their ace Chris Sale on the mound yesterday. Today they send out youngster Carlos Rodon, who has been impressive in his rookie campaign with a record of 3-1 with 3.75 ERA. Rodon, the lefty, has not seen the Tigers yet in his Major League career but will look to settle them down at Comerica Park. As a team Detroit hits lefties at a .265 clip this year.

Alfredo Simon will get the ball for the Tigers today. He's been serviceable for Detroit so far this season, coming over from the Cincinnati Reds. Simon has pitched well, especially at home where he has a 4-1 record with an ERA of just 1.58 in six starts this season. His 7-4 record is not bad overall and the Tigers will be banking on him to spin another quality start this afternoon.

Current White Sox own an average of .239 against Simon with just two home runs in 71 plate appearances. Both Avisail Garcia and Conor Gillaspie own the homers while Adam Eaton has the most base hits with three.

Today Simon will once again throw a solid start at home. The Tigers still are spinning their wheels when it comes to consistency but today they'll start to get back on track.

Movie Stop the All-Star Game Ballot Stuffing

Pro handicappers Teddy Covers and Steve Fezzik have a bone to pick with MLB Commisioner Bud Selig, who decided the All-Star exhibition game will determine World Series home field advantage. With Royals fans currently voting seven Kansas City players into the starting line up of the American League team, this popularity-based roster of an exhibition game which has way too much impact on the most important baseball series of the year.
