The Major League Baseball season continues with a new week on the schedule beginning tonight. In a matchup between teams in the AL Central, the Cleveland Guardians are set to host the Chicago White Sox. The game is scheduled for a 5:10 p.m. start time and it will be televised live on ESPN+ and MLB.tv. Currently the MLB odds for the game have the Guardians listed as big favorites to pick up the win at home.
MLB Odds
Cleveland -225
Runline: Guardians -1.5 (-104)
Total: O 7.5 runs (-105), U 7.5 runs (-115)
Free Pick: Guardians -1.5
Cleveland finally gets a chance to play at home here, so there should be some extra juice for the Guardians here. It's part of the reason this game is being played so early based on the normal baseball schedule, they at least get a shot at some part of a showcase here.
The Guardians also get Triston McKenzie on the bump. He struggled in his first start of the season, yielding four earned over just three-plus innings in a loss at Seattle last week. McKenzie really struggled to throw strikes in that one, getting behind in counts. He scattered four hits, but just was not good enough to pitch Cleveland to the win.
I'm taking the Guardians runline here this afternoon. I expect McKenzie to have a better effort and take advantage of a weak White Sox lineup which ranks in the bottom five in team average, hits, total bases and worst in the league with only 16 runs scored in nine games. Cleveland's offense has been solid as they've raced out to a 7-2 start as well.
