MAC Championship Game Northern Illinois Huskies vs Bowling Green Falcons Start Time, Odds, Free Pick

Mid-American Conference

The Northern Illinois Huskies take on the Bowling Green Falcons in the MAC Championship game tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start time and it will be televised nationally on ESPN2. Currently the odds for the game have the Huskies favored by almost a touchdown in this one.

These two schools met up in the MAC title game last season as well with Bowling Green dominating every facet of the game, picking up a 47-27 win at Ford Field. Northern Illinois was 12-0 heading into that game and had legitimate thoughts of playing in a BCS game but it all came crashing down in Detroit, dashing the Huskies' streak of 25 straight wins in the MAC. Neither team is as good this year compared to last, but that isn't always a very good measuring stick for schools.

Northern Illinois, though, has already won 10 games on the season and their only two losses were games where the Huskies really struggled. Both Arkansas and Central Michigan beat up on the Huskies, winning comfortably. Each of those games, though, were much earlier in the season and now Northern Illinois has ripped off six straight victories. The Huskies love getting to Ford Field, but actually playing in the title game has not been good to those looking to cash tickets as they've failed to cover in all five appearances.

Overall, the underdog has covered the number in six straight MAC title games with three straight upsets happening on the scoreboard.

Bowling Green enters the game clinched their spot in the title game a couple of weeks ago, but they've lost two straight coming into tonight's game. In last week's contest the Falcons led 21-7 over Ball State but they were dominated the final three quarters by the Cardinals 34-3. Limping into the MAC title game could hurt the Falcons in this one.

The Falcons have been able to move the football all season, but the defense is not good, giving up 32.5 points per game this season. Northern Illinois comes in averaging 31 points per game. Drew Hare isn't the best QB the Huskies have had in recent years, but he's still doing a great job. Northern Illinois is averaging 246 yards per game on the ground, which will be their gameplan here tonight. Both Hare and tailback Cameron Stingily have had successful years on the ground and should have solid games tonight.

Northern Illinois has the better offense, better defense and look for them to continue their winning streak as they have been playing very well.

Free Pick: Northern Illinois 31, Bowling Green 20
