The Pac 12 was one of the more tightly contested conferences a season ago as Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, and UCLA all put together strong campaigns. Ultimately, Stanford won the league championship, posting an 8-1 league record and a 27-24 victory opposite the Bruins in the Pac 12 title game. Despite the Cardinal's success last season, David Shaw's crew is not expected to repeat as conference champion. Recently released Odds to win 2013 Pac 12 Championship from the LVH (Las Vegas Hotel and Sportsbook) have Oregon listed as a 10-11 favorite ($110 to win $100) to secure the league title.
Oregon has a new coach this season as Chip Kelly left to take over head coaching duties for the Philadelphia Eagles; however, as the odds would indicate, few people are anticipating a big drop off in Eugene. The football program will maintain some continuity with Kelly's former offensive coordinator, Mark Helfrich, taking over as head coach. Oregon also welcomes back 15 starters and 52 lettermen from last year's 12-1 Fiesta Bowl winning squad.
Stanford is a second pick at 5-2 odds and should, once again, be a strong presence in the Pac 12 North. The Cardinal have 14 returning starters, including eight from a defense that allowed just 17.2 points and 336 yards per game. Stanford also hosts Oregon this year as it welcomes the Ducks to Palo Alto on Thursday, November 7th.
USC, at 9-2 odds, is the third choice of the LVH, despite last year's disappointing 7-6 finish and the loss of quarterback Matt Barkley. The Trojans are still loaded with talent (15 starters, 57 lettermen back) and their schedule breaks well as they avoid Oregon and host both Stanford and UCLA.
LVH Odds to Win 2013 Pac 12 Championship:
Oregon 10-11
Stanford 5-2
USC 9-2
Arizona State 8-1
Oregon State 20-1
UCLA 20-1
Washington 20-1
Arizona 20-1
Utah 40-1
Washington State 100-1
California 100-1
Colorado 100-1
